Working in social care makes you eligible for a Blue Light Card, and that includes agency work with Tezlom. It takes about ten minutes to sort out. This page walks you through it, including the one step people always get stuck on.
What it actually is
Blue Light Card is a discount scheme for people working in health and social care, the NHS, the emergency services, the armed forces and social work. It is not a Tezlom scheme, we do not run it and we make nothing from it, but our people are eligible for it and a fair few of them never get round to claiming it. Which is a shame, because it is free and it is worth having.
The savings sit across high street shops, supermarkets, restaurants, days out, holidays, insurance and cars. Retailers change over time, but the sort of names on it include New Look, Halfords, Subway, Domino's, Starbucks, River Island, Prezzo, Vision Express, Hungry Horse, Office, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Blue Light Card keep the current list on their own site.
How to register as a Tezlom worker
- Go to bluelightcard.co.uk and start a new application.
- Choose Social Care as your category. This is where most people go wrong, they look for an agency or a healthcare option. Social Care is the right one.
- Choose your division, whichever fits your role: Support Worker, Care Assistant or Registered Nurse.
- Enter your Tezlom office postcode. That is the branch you work through, not your home address. If you do not know it, ring your branch and ask, they will have it to hand.
- Verify your email. Blue Light Card send you an activation link. Check your junk folder if it has not arrived in a few minutes.
That gets you the free digital card, which lives on your phone and works in most places straight away.
If you want the physical card too
The plastic High Street card is optional and costs a one-off £4.99, paid to Blue Light Card. Some shops prefer it, and it is handy if your phone battery has a habit of dying. To get one you upload a photo of your Tezlom ID badge, and it arrives in around 5 working days.
Your ID badge comes from your branch once your compliance is finished. Not got one yet? That is your first call.

Can Tezlom agency workers get a Blue Light Card?
Yes. Blue Light Card covers the health and social care sector, so Tezlom care assistants, support workers and registered nurses are eligible. You register as Social Care and use your Tezlom branch details to verify your employment.
How do I prove I work for Tezlom?
During registration you select Social Care as your category, choose your division (Support Worker, Care Assistant or Registered Nurse) and enter your Tezlom office postcode. If you are not sure of your branch postcode, ring your branch and they will give it to you.
Is the Blue Light Card free?
Registration and the digital card are free. The physical High Street card costs a one-off £4.99 if you want one, which is paid to Blue Light Card, not to Tezlom.
How long does the physical card take to arrive?
Around 5 working days once your application has been approved.
What do I need to apply for the High Street card?
A photo of your Tezlom ID badge. Your branch issues that when your compliance is complete, so if you have not got one yet, ask them.
How long does a Blue Light Card last?
Two years, then you re-verify that you are still working in an eligible role. If you are still with Tezlom, the same branch details work again.
Who else is eligible for a Blue Light Card?
Health and social care, the NHS, emergency services, the armed forces and social work. Eligibility is set by Blue Light Card, not by Tezlom.
