Support Worker Agency Jobs

Support Workers help vulnerable adults and children with mental illnesses and complex needs to live as independently as they can. Practical help and a bit of emotional backbone. Done well, it changes how someone's week goes, and that is why people stay in it.

What does it entail?

No two days match, because no two people you support are the same. The regular parts are personal hygiene, and the household and paperwork side: cleaning, cooking, getting to appointments, paying bills.

Is this for me?

This is a personal job. You need to be good with people and able to build trust, with the person you support, with the rest of the team, and with their family. It can also be heavy going, so we have proper support in place for the days that take something out of you.

What do you need to work as a Support Worker with Tezlom?

• 3 months UK paid previous support work experience within the last 5 years
• Enhanced Adult & Child Workforce DBS (either processed with Tezlom or on the Update Service)
• A minimum of 2 satisfactory references
• Mandatory training (free enrolment onto our online training if yours is out of date)

Support Worker FAQs

What's the difference between a support worker and a care assistant?

Care Assistants focus on personal care, washing, dressing, meals and comfort. Support Workers focus on independence, helping people with mental illnesses or complex needs manage daily life, appointments, bills and community activities. Many Tezlom candidates are qualified for both.

What settings would I work in?

Tezlom supports learning disability units, mental health services, supported living, residential homes and community settings across the UK.

Is support from the agency available at night?

Yes, every Tezlom branch offers 24/7 out-of-hours support, so there's always someone to call, whatever shift you're on.
